it. is. so. damn. hot.

for this area, at least. it gets this hot (nearly 100 F) maybe 5 days out of the year (maybe a few more) and these are those days. we met preschool friends at one of the regional parks up the hill, which was lovely, as it was cooler and breezier up there. while finn napped, lala and i went outside and had a blast spraying each other down with the hose (and watering the garden). we came back in and got a timely call from the water district "water shortages, water conservation, blah blah." a total head smack for me, since i am usually sooo good about conserving and i had just been wasting a bit!

it got so hot here that when finn woke, S and i noticed he had gotten a bit dehydrated, so i nursed him a bunch (more), fed him some liquidy rice cereal, fed him his first water, and gave him a cool bath and let him have naked playmat time. that seemed to help, although it is still quite hot here and he is very restless and wakeful already tonight. oh, and he rolled over, back to front today while i was laying next to him on the play mat and talking with M on the phone!

S and out contractor friend, J, made good deck progress, despite the heat. can't wait to enjoy it. in the meantime, our back yard is an off-limits disaster zone.
